ON ART TEACHING: PATHS AND POSSIBILITIES IN VISUAL ARTS IN THE EARLY YEARS OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Abstract: This work presents reflections on the teaching of art in the early years of elementary school, seeking ways and possibilities to include the visual arts in the creative processes of 5th grade students at a full-time municipal public school in the municipality of Juazeiro do Norte. The research is in its initial phase, consisting of a bibliographic survey related to the proposed theme, supported by contemporary authors who deal with the teaching of Art for children: Barbosa (1999), Cunha (2010, 2023), Pillar (1999), Ferraz and Fusari (2010). The problem of this ongoing investigation lies in the following question: How can I, as a pedagogical teacher, contribute in classroom practice to expanding students' aesthetic/artistic repertoire? Given this, we believe that proper planning that takes into account the theoretical-methodological approaches to teaching the arts can help us try to solve this problem. Therefore, after studying these approaches based on the studies of the authors mentioned above, we will systematize proposals for carrying out a sequence of lessons with the 5th grade class. For the moment, we conclude that it is necessary to interweave theory and practice in order to give quality to pedagogical practices in Art in the school context.
