Iansã/Oyá, African Religions, Ritual TheaterAbstract
This study presents discussions and experiences related to African-based religions, focusing on the mythological narratives of Iansã/Oyá. The research stems from theoretical/practical training and a ritual theater experiment. The aim of the study is to share the knowledge of ritual theater and the mythological narratives of Iansã, acquired through the experienced theatrical training. The study is qualitative, bibliographic, and empirical. The theoretical and methodological foundations used for the composition of the dissertation base were inspired by authors such as Passos (2008), Souza (2015), Haderchpek (2019), and others who discuss the topic. From the theatrical/ritualistic experiences discussed in the context of the training, we identified the relevance of African mythological narratives and ritual theater through their interconnections, which enabled us to expand our knowledge as human beings who are always subject to learning. We emphasize, finally, that the formative experiences have creatively and critically provided us with sensitization, awareness, and, most importantly, the humanization of ourselves towards, with, and among our peers. As social beings, we must cherish and fight for the right to freedom of expression, diversity, and, even more, the dignity of life and living it.
