THE PERCEPTION OF TEACHERS IN THE EARLY YEARS OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ABOUT RACE AND GENDER

This text constitutes a reflection and problematization on race and gender relations in the school context, specifically in the early years of Elementary School, being an excerpt from the first author’s course completion work. With this in mind, the general objective is to analyze the perceptions of teachers in the early years of Elementary School about race and gender relations. The research field was a municipal school located in the city of João Lisboa/MA, with two 1st and 2nd year teachers. To this end, in this work the form was used as a methodological instrument with ase don of responses ase don gender and race studies from the perspective of anti-racist and differences education. After following this path, it is ase do to infer that the teachers’ perception is immersed in cultural and social aspects that point to a conservative ase d of addressing such issues in school spaces, ase don religious processes. The statements indicated that they do not feel able to work on gender and do not wish to do so. Regarding race, they only work during Black Consciousness Month, being something specific and not permeating daily teaching practice.
